There was pandemonium at the Ado-Ekiti Local Government on Tuesday as the legislative chamber of the council witnessed a free-for-all fight among the councillors.
Reports reaching Naijaparrots indicates that some of the Councillors initiated a process to suspend the councillor representing ward 10, Hon. Busuyi Ibikunle.
Their grouse was that Hon. Ibikunle attended a court proceeding over a case insituted by Akinjide Akintola against the candidature of Bolaji Olagbaju, both from ward 11 contesting the Ado Constituency 2 house of assembly elections slated for next year.
Bolaji Olagbaju is a daughter of the immediate past Deputy Governor in Ekiti State, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi.
It was also alleged that the leader of the house, Hon. Ajifowobaje, councillor representing ward as well as other councillors witnessed the proceeding.
This infuriated supporters of the councillor representing ward 10, Hon. Busuyi Ibikunle who mobilised to the Council and disrupted the proceedings of the house as the situation snowballed into a free-for-all.
Some of the councillors were reportedly injured while the mace which is a symbol of the legislature was destroyed.
The situation created pandemonium at the Igirigiri area of Ado-Ekiti where the council secretariat is located as many residents and business owners ran for dear lives.
This development has created a degree of concern for the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State as the party is preparing for the 2023 elections.
The leaders who spoke with Naijaparrots on the condition of anonymity expressed shock that the issue was coming up at a time the leaders and followers should close ranks to ensure victory for the party at the polls.
