POLICE MAY DEMOTE 15 OFFICERS FOR RECEIVING MONEY FROM CHINESE NATIONALS
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has concluded plans to punish DSP Aliyu Adejembi and over 15 other policemen seen in a viral video collecting cash gifts from Chinese nationals who they escorted during their visit to Kaduna State.
Police decision came after Adejembi and other officers were summoned to the Force headquarters in Abuja for questioning, following the backlash that had continued to trail the officers’ conducts before the Chinese nationals who took turn to hand the policemen cash gifts.
The video, which surfaced on different social media platforms, showed some Chinese nationals handing out about N5,000 notes to each Nigerian policeman after they had lined-up in a combat ready format.
As gathered, the development sparked outrage with many Nigerians faulting the Chinese nationals, expressed disappointment over the officers’ conducts, and advocated an immediate reform of the law enforcement agency.
The force spokesperson, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the development, stated that the officers have been identified and were being subjected to disciplinary proceedings.
