REGIONAL COMMISSIONER RE-AFFIRMS ODSG READINESS TO CONSOLIDATE SOUTHWEST INDUSTRIALIZATION
As part of efforts to improvise means to boost revenue generation and create a formidable economic development, the State government has expressed commitment to continue to cooperate with relevant stakeholders.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Prince Boye Ologbese while playing host to the Director General of Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission, Mr. Seye Oyeleye in Akure.
Prince Ologbese while welcoming members of the DAWN Commission, reiterated government’s determination to transform the State’s core civil service economy into a business-driven hub.
He said: “Ondo State has all it requires to be great, noting that no State has the potential that it boasts of”
According to Media Officer in the Ministry, Debbie Funmilayo, the Commissioner lauded the immense contributions of the Director General, Mr. Seye Oyeleye, stressing that his leadership roles has fast-tracked investment across the SouthWest region.
Acknowledging Mr. Oyeleye’s role in the creation of Amotekun Corps which has tremendously helped to checkmate insecurity and foster investment opportunities, the Commissioner said he was pleased to have DAWN Commission indicate interest to join the narrative to re-design Ondo State as a business hub for the SouthWest.
Prince Ologbese pointed out that investment hinges on security “It is so pertinent that no one would invest in any economy where life and property is unsafe”
In addition to strengthening the economy, the Commissioner emphasized the need for development of a railway system, noting that a functional railway system would aid to drive commerce and industry.
He assured the team that the Ministry would continue to abide by the mandate of the Commission towards the actualisation of a more developed State.
In the same vein, he congratulated the Director General on behalf of the Commission regarding her upcoming 10th Anniversary pledging, that the Ministry would be in full participation to celebrate the occasion.
Earlier speaking, Mr. Seye Oyeleye said that the major purpose of their visit was to officially notify the Ministry on the 2-Day lnvestment Agency summit scheduled for the end of the month.
Mr. Oyeleye said as part of its mandate, it is important to garner successful Investment Promotion Agencies (IPA) to brainstorm strategic ideas to drive investment opportunities in the SouthWest region.
Mr. Oyeleye, hinted that to hasten development the environment has to be powered by industries, thus the proposed summit that would involve key stakeholders to kickstart the production of working documents cum practical imperatives to enhance businesses and investors interest in the SouthWest region.
