Residents and motorists plying the Akure-Ikere-Ado-Ekiti Road have again appealed to the federal government to urgently address the deplorable condition of the road which has brought untold hardship to them.
They decried the hardship they have been going through on the road in the last couple of days, especially this wet season.
The last few days have been of harrowing experience for motorists and residents of Igoba, Jegele and environs due to the bad state of the road over the years.
A visit to the scene shows that haulage trucks have been trapped for days due to the failed state of the road at Jegele village, Police Secondary School and Ita-Ogbolu town.
It is now a herculean task for school children, government workers as well as private business owners to get to their various destinations.
It has gotten to a stage where youths in the community had to source hardcore materials for Intervention to enable trucks manoeuvre the road described as death trap.
Residents, motorists and commuters are now calling on the government of both Ondo and Ekiti States to provide palliative measure that could bail them out of the predicament.
They particularly pleaded with the Agency For Transport in Ondo State to wade into the challenges.
There were reports that the contract for the road had been awarded but as at now, no tangible Intervention has been witnessed on the road linking two state capitals that were in a same old state.
