SDP MOURNS THE LATE OLUBADAN, OBA OWOLABI OLAKULEHIN
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), led by the Acting National Chairman, Dr. Sadiq Umar Abubakar mourns the passing of the late Olubadan, HRM, Oba Owolabi Olakusehin, who was elected to the House of Representatives on the ticket of the Party in 1992.
The national leadership of the Party condoles the government of Oyo State and the people of Ibadan on the death of a monarch who did not only serve his people well but also the nation in general, as a military officer in his younger days, and as federal legislator in the aborted 3rd Republic.
The Party recognises the late Oba Owolabi Olakusehin as a unifier and a major contributor to national development.
The SDP is very proud to have produced three successive Olubadans – the late Olubadan Lekan Balogun, and Olubadan Owolabi Olakusehin, who passed away recently, as part of its glorious contributions to national development, and remarkable legacies to Nigeria’s democractic journey, as well as the current Otun Olubadan, the next in line to the reverred stool of Olubadan, His Excellency (Senator) Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, who has previously served Oyo State as Governor.
The Party prays for the repose of Oba Owolabi Olakusehin and wishes Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who has also served Nigeria as a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic, under the banner of the SDP, the best of luck as he gets set to assume the exalted royal stool.
The Party prays for the continued peace, growth, and advancement of Ibadan, the homeland of greats.
