Barely two days after emergency rescuers left the scene of the collapsed three-storey building in Mushin axis of Lagos State after concluding their operations, reports have revealed that two of the four casualties brought out from the rubbles were a sex worker and her customer.
They were believed to be having a nice time together under the over 40 years old building when its pillars suddenly failed and caved in on them as well as other occupants of the ill-fated structure.
It was learnt that all efforts by the emergency officials to bring them out before they breathe their last under the building sited on 2/4 Oye Sonuga Street, Palm Avenue, proved abortive as many were not aware that both of them were having a nice time together.
Residents claimed that the ill-fated building served both commercial and residential purposes with the business section entertaining more visitors than the residents considering the services it offered to members of the public.
Armed with the information, some of the emergency rescuers disclosed that the two persons were found in same section of the building during the rescue operations.
They claimed that the intimacy must have been at its peak at that time and they could not notice the signs given by the building before giving way.
The sources added that they were the last bodies recovered during the operations and both men and women had no cloth on them when they were found under the building.
It was learnt that their appearance affected the quick recovery of their bodies as the agencies, including the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) personnel, had to search for clothes to cover their privacy from the eyes of bystanders at the scene.
An emergency official, who did not mention his name since he was not authorized to speak, narrated that the man was found lying on the prostitute with small particles of bricks only barriers between them under the rubbles.
He disclosed that their bodies were recovered over five hours after the building erected along Isolo road collapsed on them and other occupants.
“The last two victims whose dead bodies were recovered were actually lying on each other and it was believed that they were having a nice time when the tragedy occurred. It is sad that they both died.
Earlier, the Southwest zonal coordinator, NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye, disclosed that the death toll increased to four at about 7:30 am when another two bodies, a male and female, were brought out under the rubbles.
