STATE CIVIL SERVICE, LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICE TEAMS TRADE TACKLE AS ONDO PUBLIC SERVICE WEEK ENTERS DAY 2
As the Public Service Week celebration continues in Akure, the Ondo State capital, workers in the State, led by the Head of Service, Bayo Philip, on Wednesday embarked on a Health Walk and a Novelty football match between the State Civil Service team and the Local Government Service Team.
The Health Walk took off from Adegbemile Junction, Alagbaka, Akure where the workers had converged on their large number as early as 6:30am through the popular Oba Adesina road to the Akure township Stadium where they engaged in series of physical fitness exercise.
After the exercise, representatives of the two teams for the novelty match took position and started the match after the ceremonial official kick by the HoS.
After the first half ended goalless, the Local Government team, captained by the Local Government Pension Department, Dr Mrs Mercy Femi-Idris, opened the score at the 35th minutes of play.
The opposing State Civil Service team, which featured Permanent Secretaries like Chief Segun Odusanya, Funke Dare-Atunse, Acting Solicitor-General, Ayodeji Ogundare and Morayo Bayo-philip among others, came with an equaliser at the 40th minute and the winning goat at the 49th minutes ending the match at 2-1 aggregate against the Local Government team.
