TENSION AS DEJI OF AKURE, IRALEPO OF ISINKAN DISAGREE OVER CHIEFTAINCY ELIGIBILITY FOLLOWING COURT VERDICT
…You are suspended, Deji to Iralepo
…Oba Olugbenga Olofin-Adimula remains our Monarch, Isinkan Kingdom replies Deji
The Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladelusi and the Iralepo of Isikan, Oba Olugbenga Olofin Adimula are at loggerheads over what could be described as lingering Chieftaincy between the two traditional authorities in Akure South local government area of the state.
Since the presentation of staff of office to the Iralepo by the Akeredolu administration, there have been bickerings between the Iralepo and the Deji over eligibility status.
The father of the present Iralepo, Oba Joseph Olu Ojo was until his demise a recognised traditional authority but after his exit, the Deji had to present his case that Isikan could not have a traditional ruler with a claim that it is a quarter in Akure the state capital.
This has been on and legal fireworks have been deployed to determine who is right or wrong.
A latest court verdict had determined that Isikan is a quarter and could not have a traditional authority on its own even though the status has been an age long affair.
To this end, a statement from the Deji’s palace had claimed that it had suspended the the Iralepo following an appeal court verdict.
Meanwhile, the Iralepo’s palace had also countered the statement that the palace is studying the judgement and would respond appropriately.
Below are the full texts of the statements by both parties.
