TINUBU INAUGURATES TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION COMPLEX AT IMMIGRATION HEADQUARTERS
…As Tunji-Ojo assures project will stamp out security challenges along nation’s vast borders
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) has officially commissioned the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Technology Innovation Complex (BATTIC).
The Complex is located in the premises of the Headquarters of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Abuja.
The ultra-modern complex will not only serve as the nerve centre of the immigration service, but also the entire paramilitary agencies under the Ministry of Interior such that security intelligence can be shared, stored, and processed seamlessly, and in real-time.
The complex houses some of the most advanced technological security solutions that compete globally.
It comprises a Data Centre, Command and Control Centre, Visa Approval Centre (VAC), ECOWAS Biometrics Centre, Solar Farm, and Passport Personalisation Centre, carefully built to combat security challenges such as insurgencies, banditry, cybercrimes, smuggling, and other trans-border related challenges that have usually gone undetected.
According to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the new Command and Control Centre ensures that every person entering into the country is pre-profiled through the Advanced Passenger Information System (APIS), and provides for the service an opportunity to flag down persons of interests at all international airports in the country.
“The complex, amongst other critical components, also houses a 8.3 Petabytes data centre that will become the backbone of the our digital infrastructure in the Ministry of Interior.”
“Our dream of a secure nation is becoming a reality, and I want to appreciate all our technical partners, as well as other government parastatals such as the Ministry of Aviation, DSS, ONSA, ICRC, NCIA, who contributed immensely to make this possible.”
“We could not have achieved this feat without the remarkable efforts of all our team members in the Ministry of Interior led by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani. Also, I want to thank all our guests who graced the commissioning ceremony including the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; Chairman Senate Committee on Interior, His Excellency Sen. Adams Oshiomole; Chairman House of Reps Committee on Interior, Hon. Abdullahi Ahmad; Aviation Minister, Dr. Festus Keyamo; our service chiefs; DG ICRC, Dr. Jobson Ewalefoh; and DG NiDCOM, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa.”
“What started 12 months ago is now a landmark at the NIS Headquarters, and will drive our #RenewedHope agenda to stamp out challenges arising from insecurity along our vast borders”, Bunmi Tunji-Ojo added.
