TUNDE OGUNDARE FELICITATES AIYEDATIWA’S AIDE ON INFRASTRUCTURE OLAWOYE
…Urges timely completion of Alagbaka Extension road project
A resident of Akure the Ondo State capital, Barrister Tunde Ogundare has expressed confidence in the ability of the Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Infrastructure, Engr. Ayo Olawoye.
The astute public servant also congratulated the construction expert on his appointment by the Governor.
Barrister Ogundare also used the opportunity to remind the Special Adviser on the timely completion of Alagbaka Extension road project which has been abandoned for about two years.
This was contained in a letter titled “Hearty Congratulations and a Humble Request for Intervention on Alagbaka Extension, SIB Road” to the Governor’s aide to congratulate him on assumption of office.
“Permit me to warmly congratulate you on your well-deserved appointment. Your elevation is a proof to your dedication, exceptional competence, and commitment to public service”.
“I am confident that your tenure will bring about significant and positive transformation to the good people of our State”.
“While rejoicing with you on this new and noble responsibility, I humbly seize this opportunity to advance a longstanding and legitimate concern regarding the Alagbaka Extension SIB road construction project, which has regrettably remained abandoned and in a deplorable condition for over two years”.
“Upon your assumption of office, we had a brief telephone conversation where you graciously explained that the delay was due to a disagreement between the contractor and the Government, a matter you assured had been amicably resolved”.
“However, to date, there has been no visible action or communication regarding the recommencement of the project”.
“It is increasingly worrisome that the citizens of Ondo State must continue to endure such disheartening infrastructural deficits, particularly given the economic strain imposed by the rising cost of vehicular maintenance, spare parts, and the unquantifiable depreciation suffered by vehicles plying the affected road”.
“This situation places an undue burden on the average income earner and undermines the wellbeing of residents”.
“As a responsible government that places premium value on accountability and public trust, I earnestly suggest that a comprehensive financial audit be undertaken to ascertain the true state of the project, including any liabilities, infractions, or loans associated with the contractual agreements between the Government and the contractor”.
“It is no longer acceptable for public office holders to enjoy comfort and privilege while citizens, who dutifully fulfill their obligations through taxes, ground rents, and related payments, are left to bear the brunt of decayed infrastructure. Accessible and quality road networks should, at the very least, be a basic benefit afforded to all by a responsive and responsible government”.
“It is indeed deeply painful and disheartening to witness the Alagbaka Extension, which hosts over 10,000 residents, still lack a motorable road in the year 2025. This unfortunate situation casts a shadow over the image of governance, and urgent corrective action is imperative”.
Permit me to respectfully remind you that time is of the essence. Each passing day is a call to duty, and the legacies we build today will define the future judgment of our stewardship.
“Therefore, I sincerely advise that priority attention be given to the completion of ongoing infrastructural projects, such as the Alagbaka Extension SIB road, before embarking on new ventures”.
” This strategic approach would not only maximize existing resources but also bring immediate relief and pride to the people”.
“In conclusion, government exists to serve the people, and its policies and programmes must be designed to have direct, visible, and positive impacts on their lives. I trust in your leadership and your capacity to rise to this occasion”.
“I respectfully implore you to kindly prioritize and expedite action on this urgent matter. Time, as we know, waits for no one”.
“Thank you most sincerely for your kind courtesies, and once again, accept my heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for a successful tenure”.
