All is now set for the commencement of Passenger Safety Insurance Scheme in Ondo State.
The special Adviser to the Governor on Transport, Barr. tobi Ogunleye said the scheme will take off by the 1st of June 2020
While fielding questions from journalists in Akure, the Special Adviser explained that the safety insurance policy had been introduced by the administration of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu but it was put on old for some reasons, stating that the government is now ready to rescutitate the insurance scheme for the safety and benefit of the passengers in the state
According to a statement signed by the Media Manager of the Ministry of Transport, Bisi Lawani, the special adviser said the scheme is designed to cater for the safety of travellers in the state while explaining that the scheme will help passengers to be able to have access to quality and immediate healthcare services in the case of eventualities.
He disclosed that it would also help to ensure the safety of lives of travellers as it would put an end to roadside loading of passengers as the people would be sensitized on the need to key into the scheme especially at a critical time in the country.
Ogunleye said 100naira premium is payable by every passenger at the various parks in the state while also adding that this will not in anyway increase the transport fare.
He noted that the programme is not to drive revenue rather to safeguard the lives of the citizens in the state at a critical time like this where there are cases of kidnapping and ritual killing.
He urged all and sundry to always patronize government accredited parks as well as supply truthful information about themselves in the travellers’ manifest that would be given to them.
The special Adviser implored passengers to always demand the insurance cover from the park managers as a way of keying into the program to protect their lives.
