ONDO STATE GENDER BOSS, OLAMIDE FALANA FROWNS AT ATTACK ON ILAJE CHAIRMAN, TOYIN OGUNGBURE
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Gender Matters, Chief Mrs. Olamide Falana has condemned the alleged attack on Ilaje Local Government Chairman, Hon. Toyin Ogungbure, describing the incidence as impermissible and highly prohibited in the State.
Chief Mrs. Falana expressed her displeasure while speaking to news men following the case of attack on Hon. Ogungbure by alleged thugs from an unpopular political party and reiterated that Ondo State Government has a functional legal system that issues fair judgment to all and can by no means, be politically induced.
According to her, the attack showed the desperation of the party who have seen the handwriting of failure at polls on the walls hence, resorted to physical attack on respected citizens of the State.
Chief Mrs. Falana further stated that though the case is still undergoing investigation, it was necessary to emphasize that the State has ‘zero tolerance’ to any form of gender based violence acts from individuals or groups, capable of jeopardizing harmony within the society.
According to a statement signed by the Media Officer in the Office of Gender Matters, Debbie Funnilayo, the Special Adviser called on other likely perpetrators to take heed saying, “Whoever errs shall be dealt with accordingly as stipulated in the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law (VAPP) 2021”.
