NASRDA SPOKESMAN, DR FELIX ALE FELICITATES PA REUBEN FASONRANTI AT 99
…Urges immortalisation of Yoruba leader in his life-time
The Director of Media and Corporate Communication at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Felix Ale has joined the numerous admirers felicitating the leader of the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Cultural organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasonranti on the occasion of his 99th birthday.
In a statement, the Oka-Akoko-born Media Icon and Seasoned administrator described the nonagenarian as one of the leaders who have made unusual sacrifices for the progress and development of Yorubaland as well as Nigeria in general.
Dr. Ale reflected on Chief Fasoranti’s high level of prudence when he served as commissioner for finance in the Old Ondo State and how he played significant roles in ensuring overall development from the then Ilaje-Ese-Odo local government area to then Ekiti East local government area.
While describing Pa Fasonranti as a highly disciplined leader and politician with total dedication and commitment to the course of Ondo State, Dr.Ale emphasized that his consistency, discipline, integrity and high level of patriotism will continue to remain a reference point in the anal of human history.
The Director Media and Corporate Communications of NASRDA also made reference to the celebrant’s contributions to his achievements as a roving reporter over 30 years ago alongside other prominent Nigerians who include Basorun Sehinde Arogbofa, Bishop Bolanle Gbonigi, Bishop Francis Alonge, Bishop Ipinmoye and late Chief Ajayi Ogedengbe.
“As a roving reporter many years ago, Baba Fasoranti was always ready to grant interviews which also enriched my numerous human angle reports on national issues or issues of contemporary interests.
I would go and meet Baba at Omolere Nursery and Primary School while I would also get Basorun Sehinde Arogbofa then at Army Comprehensive High School and Baba Ajayi Ogedengbe in his office at Oba Adesida road”.Most times I meet Baba Fasoranti and these respected elder statesmen in their various homes, particularly weekends.
Chief Fasoranti never denied me interview as he was always ready to receive me any time, any day.
Their contributions to my reports then enriched my reports that I was awarded “Journalist of the Year” on three occasions in Ondo State. So I will continue to celebrate Baba Reuben Fasonranti and people like him for their contributions to the development of human society”.
“In actual fact, it was the interview I conducted with Baba and used in my report that doused the tension during the issue of assets sharing between Ondo and Ekiti States after the creation of Ekiti out of old Ondo State”.
“Pa Fasoranti stated in that interview that the creation of Ekiti State was only for administrative convenience, emphasizing that the people of Ondo and Ekiti are inseparable as they will ever remain brothers and sisters. And this was referred to by the head of the panel then, General Abba and that was the end of the issue”.
Dr. Ale therefore urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to set machinery in motion to immortalise the Afenifere leader while he is alive.
“I want to use this medium to urge Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to work with his colleague-Governors in the Southwest to ensure that the Yoruba and National leader is immortalised in his lifetime”.
“We should dance away from the culture of waiting for our leaders who have contributed meaningfully to human and societal development to leave us before we decide to immortalise them”.
“The Ondo State Internal Revenue Service Headquarters or even the Federal University of Technology, Akure could be named after our revered leader and father, Pa Reuben Fasonranti”.
I strongly believe that our highly revered father, Chief Reuben Fasoranti has worked assiduously to earn such honor in his life time.
“I heartily rejoice with our Papa on this occasion of his 99th and and wish him many more years of bountiful celebrations in life” Dr Ale concluded.
