
FIRST LADY, OLUREMI TINUBU EMPOWERS 500 WOMEN WITH 50,000 NAIRA GRANTS IN ONDO

The Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON CON has Empowered Five hundred women with the provision of recapitalization Grants of fifty thousand naira for small business owners in Ondo state
Senator Tinubu who is the chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative was represented by the wife of the Governor, Mrs Seun Aiyedatiwa stated this at the Renewed Hope Initiative/Tony Elumelu Foundation women’s Economic Empowerment Programme at the International Events Centre (The Dome)
The First Lady said the Economic Empowerment Programme was geared towards supporting the entrepreneurial spirit of women traders and small-scale business owners who wake up each day determined to provide for their families, educate their children, and uplift their communities.
Senator Tinubu emphasized that the empowerment is not a loan, but a grant and a seed of renewed hope to help recapitalize their existing businesses.
The First Lady said that the sum of N50,000 each was presented to the selected 500 beneficiaries.
She appreciated the Tony Elumelu Foundation, which donated One Billion Naira to the Renewed Hope Initiative, to directly support 18,500 women across the country, with 500 women from each of the 36 states and the FCT, to strengthen and recapitalize their existing small businesses.
Also speaking, the Representative of the Tony Elumelu Foundation, Alhaja Adeyemi Risikat congratulated the women of Ondo state for the opportunity.
Earlier, the commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Dr. Seun Osamaye, said Ondo state has never had it so good like this present administration, considering the support women are receiving from the National government through various Empowerment programs to the state.
Dr Osamaye said in the last two months, women in Ondo state have benefited massively from the Renewed Hope Initiative through the Widow Empowerment Programme, the Empowerment of textile merchants
Dr Osamaye appreciated the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON CON, and the wife of the Governor, Seun Aiyedatiwa, for their support and commitment to the women of Ondo state.
The highlight of the
programme was the disbursement of funds to the women.
Some of the beneficiaries appreciated the kind gesture of the First Lady of Nigeria for her support of their livelihood.
Dignitaries on the occasion include the Governor of the state represented by the Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora Relations, Otunba Wale Akinlosotu, the Wife of the Deputy Governor, Dr Bosede Adelam, members of the House of Assembly and their Spouses, the Chairman House committee on Women’s Affairs, APC leaders among others
