
STAKEHOLDERS ADVOCATE TECHNOLOGY-DRIVEN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION FOR EFFICIENCY
Stakeholders have called for technology-driven public administration in ensuring efficient service delivery by civil servants for better society.
They made the call at the CIPAN 2025 Night organised by the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria ( CIPAN), Ondo State Chapter, on Thursday in Akure.
The Chairman of the Ondo State Information and Technology Agency ( SITA), Hon. Tomide Akinribido, said that in the modern society, no one could do much without technology.
Akinribido noted that the current administration in the state was putting all measures in place to drive technological advancement and foster innovation.
He said that the public administrators are backbone of the government, hence the need to embrace technology deployed by the government for efficiency and better productivity.
Akinribido, who was the chairman of the occasion, stated that Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa had approved the need for all ministries, departments and agencies in the state to be connected with internet facilities.
According to him, the senior public servants have been warned to desist from using their private e-mail addresses for official purposes.
The theme of the programmes is: “Advancing an Innovation Driven Public: Leveraging Technology.”
Similarly, the CIPAN Chairman in the state, Dr Gabriel Fakinlede , enjoined the institute’s members to recommit to core values of service , integrity and accountability.
Fakinlede said that it was necessary for members to strive to make meaningful impacts in the lives of citizens.
He added that the members must contribute to the development of the state in line with the Our Ease agenda of Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
The state CIPAN Chairman noted that the occasion was not only for learning and reflection but also for fellowship and rejuvenation.
He appreciated all member and the organising committee for their tireless efforts and contributions in making the event possible, extending the appreciation to Gov. Aiyedatiwa for graciously approving the participation of members in forthcoming CIPAN Annual conference in Abuja .
In her remarks, the CIPAN Night 2025 Committee Chairman, Mrs Aderonke Ibitoye, urged the CIPAN members to renew their commitment to professionalism, ethical conduct and nation building.
Ibitoye noted that CIPAN is not just a professional body but a movement for responsible governance and transformative public service.
She added that as public administrators, their impacts are felt across every sector, stating that their roles remain central to the success of government and institutions.
In his goodwill message, Mr Idowu Ojo, the Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Finance, said that there would be no meaningful progress without technology.
Ojo asked all to embrace technology in saving more money and for better society.
Also, Chairman of Academic Staff Union of Secondary School( ASUSS) in Ondo State, Comrade Tajudeen Balogun, asked the government to have a political will in ensuring technological-driven administration through proper mobilisation.
Also, the guest speaker, Mr Paul Ushie, said technology-driven public administration would reduce leakage. help transparency and enhance productivity.
Ushie stated that paperless public administration was achievable in Nigeria , saying that technological and scientific innovation was able to achieve the unimaginable.
According to him, the President Bola Tinubu-led administration had been able to increase the country’s internally generated revenue tremendously due to deployment of technology.
