YOUTH EMPOWERMENT KEY TO NATIONAL TRANSFORMATION – NASRDA BOSS
The Director General and Chief Executive, National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Matthew Adepoju, has stated that skills acquisition goes beyond employment creation, but it is a powerful instrument for empowerment, dignity, innovation and the overall transformation of society.
Dr. Adepoju made this statement during the official opening ceremony of the NASRDA/Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB) Skills Development Project held at the Women Development Centre, Abuja.
The Director General who was represented by the Director Media and Corporate Communications, Dr. Felix Ale, emphasized that equipping young people with relevant and practical skills positions them as architects of their own destiny, active contributors to national development and custodians of innovation.
According to him, skills development remains a critical component of NASRDA’s mandate, particularly in harnessing space-based resources for Nigeria’s socio-economic growth.
He noted that empowering youths with the right competencies aligns with the Agency’s vision of using science and technology as drivers of sustainable national progress.
Dr. Adepoju commended the organizers of the Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB) project for their patriotism, commitment and visionary leadership, assuring them of NASRDA’s continuous support.
He reaffirmed the Agency’s resolve to champion initiatives that enable Nigerian youths to maximize their potentials and play meaningful roles in nation building.
While applauding the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration anchored on empowerment, innovation and inclusive growth, Dr. Adepoju stated that NASRDA under his leadership would remain steadfast in initiating and implementing programmes that align with these national priorities.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brigadier General Mohammed Buba Marwa (rtd), called on Nigerian youths to shun drug related activities and embrace skills acquisition as a more productive and sustainable pathway to personal and societal development.
Represented by the NDLEA Secretary, Barrister Shedrach Haruna, the NDLEA Chairman described skills acquisition programmes as formidable platforms for redirecting youthful energy towards creativity, productivity and greatness.
Also speaking at the event, the Director General and Chief Executive of Grassroots Bridge Builders (GBB), Engr. Ibrahim Moses Igoche, expressed deep appreciation to Dr. Adepoju for his unalloyed commitment towards the realization of GBB’s vision.
He disclosed that the platform has successfully taken many Nigerian youths off the streets by engaging them in profitable ventures and grooming them into responsible members of society.
Engr. Igoche called on government at all levels, private sector players and relevant stakeholders to partner with and support skills acquisition initiatives, stressing that empowering Nigeria’s teeming youth population remains a strategic solution to economic challenges, crime reduction and social stability.
