EKITI YPP, CHAIRMAN OWOOLA DARAMOLA ALLEGES DENIAL OF AYEDE RESIDENTS TO REGISTER FOR PVC
The Young Progressives Party (YPP) has received with grave concern reports that the APC Councillor for Ward 9, Ayede, Oye Local Government, Sunday Aina, in collaboration with some INEC staff, has willfully denied residents of Ayede Community their constitutional right to register for Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
By hoarding registration forms, he has disenfranchised citizens, and when youths peacefully protested, he allegedly unleashed political thugs to attack them and issued threats of imprisonment should any evidence of these actions appear on social media.
This conduct is a direct assault on democracy, a violation of electoral rights, and a threat to peace and stability in Ayede. We call on:
1. *INEC* to immediately investigate and sanction any of its staff involved in this electoral malpractice.
2. *Security agencies* to protect the people of Ayede from further intimidation and to bring all perpetrators to justice.
3. *APC leadership* to discipline Sunday Aina and distance the party from such anti-democratic actions.
The YPP stands firm in defending the rights of all Nigerians to freely participate in the electoral process. We urge all stakeholders to act swiftly to restore confidence in our democracy and ensure that Ayede Community can exercise its franchise without fear.
Signed,
Owoola Daramola
Chairman, Young Progressives Party (YPP)
