EKITI GUBER POLL: ACCORD PARTY DEPUTY GOVERNORSHIP CANDIDATE DECLARES FOR OLUYEDE
The Deputy Governorship candidate of the Accord Party in the forthcoming 2026 Ekiti State governorship election has declared support for the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate, Dr. Wole Oluyede, after dumping the party.
The politician announced his resignation from the Accord Party on Monday, saying the decision became necessary after wide consultations with political associates, supporters and key stakeholders across the state.
He described Oluyede as a competent and visionary leader with the capacity to reposition Ekiti State and deliver good governance to the people.
According to him, the decision to support the PDP candidate was based on the need to align with a movement committed to the development and progress of the state.
He added that after carefully reviewing the political situation ahead of the governorship election, he became convinced that Oluyede remains the best candidate to lead Ekiti State at this critical period.
The former Accord Party deputy governorship candidate also called on his supporters and party members across the state to join forces with the PDP in ensuring victory for Oluyede at the poll.
Reacting to the development, leaders of the PDP in the state described the defection as a welcome development and a major boost to the party’s growing acceptance ahead of the election.
They maintained that the increasing endorsements and support for Oluyede across party lines reflected the confidence many residents have in his leadership credentials and vision for Ekiti State.
Oluyede has continued consultations and grassroots mobilisation across the state as political activities intensify ahead of the governorship election.
