RISING INSECURITY: GROUP URGES SUSPENSION OF NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE
A Nigeria Socio-Cultural Group, Agbajowo Foundation has urged the federal government to suspend the National Youth Service Scheme.
The group argued that the purpose for which the scheme is not only being defeated but the scheme is already endangering the lives of the future leaders.
In a statement signed by its Spokesman, Iyiola Oluborode and made available to newsmen, the group states that the country is no longer conducive for such a scheme.
“With the level of insecurity in Nigeria today, we should not pretend that the National Youth Service Scheme has become a death trap for the younger generations”.
“In our society today, primary school children can not go to school while those in the secondary schools are not bold to carry their bags to study”.
“Now, how do we tell a man from Abeokuta in Ogun State to send his children to Bauchi or Benue where residents are being killed like fowls everyday for National Youth Service Scheme?”, the group queried.
The group therefore urged President Bola Tinubu to suspend the scheme until normalcy returns to the country.
