ONDO GOVT BEGINS DISTRIBUTION OF EMPLOYMENT LETTERS TO 637 NEWLY ABSORBED TEACHERS
The Ondo State Government has charged 637 newly absorbed teachers to demonstrate discipline, dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their duties and strictly adhere to the rules and regulations governing the teaching profession.
The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Princess Olufunmilayo Ademulegun-Brown, gave the charge during the presentation of appointment letters to the newly absorbed teachers at the Board’s headquarters in Akure, the State Capital.
The newly recruited teachers were those who fell victim to the lapses of the teachers recruitment exercise of 2025. Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa had earlier this year promised to absorb the applicants with the needed qualifications.
While addressing the new teachers, Princess Ademulegun-Brown urged them to regard their absorption as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state’s education sector, particularly in strengthening teaching and learning in public primary schools.
She stressed the importance of punctuality, commitment and ethical conduct, noting that teachers must serve as role models to the pupils entrusted to their care.
The ODSUBEB chairman therefore urged the teachers to uphold the ethics of the profession, attend school regularly, prepare adequately for lessons and prioritise the academic and moral development of their pupils.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of ODSUBEB, Princess Abike Bayo-Ilawole, urged the new teachers to familiarise themselves with the Board’s operational guidelines and comply strictly with the established rules and regulations, stressing that discipline, diligence and cooperation with relevant officials are essential for effective service delivery.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs Omotayo Abednego Arogbowei expressed appreciation to the state government for the opportunity granted to them to serve in the education sector.
Mrs Arogbowei also pledged that the teachers would contribute their quota to the development of education in the state, particularly at the public primary school level, by promoting effective teaching and learning and supporting the academic and moral development of pupils.
