Ekiti 2026: Analyst Urges Voters to Back Oluyede, Cites Equity, Experience
A public affairs analyst and National Coordinator of the Coalition of Stakeholders and Concerned Citizens of Ekiti State, Comrade Ilesanmi Kolawole, has called on voters in the state to support the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Wole Oluyede, in the June 20, 2026 election.
Kolawole said his appeal is based on what he described as the need for equity, inclusive governance, and a leadership direction that reflects the aspirations of the people.
Speaking with journalists on the political outlook of the state, the analyst noted that the agitation for power rotation to Ekiti South Senatorial District remains a major factor that should guide voters’ decision.
“Since 1999, Ekiti South has not produced a democratically elected governor. The 2026 election presents an opportunity to address this imbalance in line with the values of fairness and justice the state is known for,” he said.
He argued that Oluyede’s emergence from the South places him in a strategic position to unify different interests while advancing the cause of balanced representation.
Kolawole also pointed to what he described as growing concerns among residents over governance outcomes, noting that many citizens are eager to see more tangible development across key sectors.
“There is a strong desire among the people for a leadership that prioritizes transparency, accountability, and practical impact on their daily lives,” he stated.
The analyst further highlighted Oluyede’s political background, describing him as a figure with extensive experience across party lines. According to him, Oluyede was among the founding members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), before leaving the party in 2022, moving to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and later joining the PDP.
He said this trajectory has given the PDP candidate broad political exposure and networks that could be beneficial in governance.
“His experience within different political platforms has deepened his understanding of the system and positioned him to build bridges across divides,” Kolawole added.
He also noted that effective leadership in Ekiti requires a deliberate focus on economic development, particularly in agriculture and small-scale enterprises, as well as renewed investment in education.
Kolawole maintained that the forthcoming election offers voters a clear choice, urging them to support a candidate who, in his view, aligns with the current mood for change and inclusive governance.
“The decision before Ekiti people is critical. It is about choosing a path that promotes balance, restores confidence in leadership, and delivers measurable development,” he said.
He concluded by urging eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process and make informed choices that would shape the future of the state.
