EKITI POLL: DELE PHILIPS HAILS OYEBANJI’S ELECTORAL VICTORY
…Urges Co-contestants To Work With Governor To Move Ekiti Forward
A former House of Representatives for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 2 on the platform of All Progressives Congress, Dele Philips has hailed the victory recorded by Governor Oyebanji in the just concluded election.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Seun Adetola and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti, the party leader described the outcome of the exercise as a true reflection of the electorate in the state.
The governor was re-elected after polling 319,224 votes over his closest rivals in the opposition People’s Democratic Party, Wole Oluyede and African Democratic Congress, Dare Bejide across the state’s 16 local government areas.
The returning officer for the election, Prof. Adenike Oladiji who is the Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology in Akure announced the results in the early hours of Sunday at INEC’s headquarters in Ado-Ekiti.
In his reaction, Dele Philips said Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s victory is not unconnected to the giant strides recorded in his first term in office.
In his words, “anyone who has been monitoring events as they unfold in Ekiti would agree that Governor Biodun Oyebanji has convinced the people that he means well for both the land and the people”.
“The outcome of the election is actually the reflection of the people’s love and trust in the governor’s leadership”.
“I use this opportunity to congratulate our amiable Governor Biodun Oyebanji on this resounding victory just as I am convinced that Ekiti would witness more rapid development and growth as he forges ahead”, Dele Philips stressed.
The Aramoko-Ekiti-born politician also urged other contestants to team up with the governor in his quest to take Ekiti to an enviable height.
