The venue was Grace Bliss Events Center, Abuja where friends, well-wishers and colleagues of the publishers of Ebony Herald International Magazine were gathered for the
2022 Edition of Ebony Herald Hall of Fame.
The event has remained a talking point since it was held on the 16th November with the theme of this year’s event, Of Politicking, Religion, Ethnicity and Insecurity.
One of the Guest Lecturers, Dr. Jake Otu Enyia who is the Cross Rivers State Commissioner for Aviation applauded the effort of Ebony Herald International Magazine for coming up with the theme: 2023 of Politicking, Religion, Ethnicity and insecurity; What is the way forward?
Otu Enyia praised the efforts of the Publisher, Alhaji Lai Gidado who has carried media management in Nigeria and overseas for coming up with a history book on ‘The Dream Of Our Founding Fathers’.
In his view, the chairman of the occasion, Barrister Reuben Atabo said the Magazine had played significant roles in shaping the Society by influencing public opinion in the interest of the people as well as abiding by professional rules and regulations.
The high-point of the event attended by participants from the 36 states of the country was presentation of awards to prominent Nigerians who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour.
A total of 26 eminent personalities and corporate organisations, including Jaiz Bank were honoured at the event.
One of the awardees, Barrister Olumuyiwa Adu, an Akure-born multi-talented oil security expert and politician called expressly for the cancellation of the toga North and South and said “there should be no dichotomy if we all see the country as one”.
Adu’s speech which recieved a thunderous applaud from the crowd, condemned the situation where a Senator or member of house of representatives collects millions with nothing to show for it as service to the nation while a security man serving all of us goes home with less than N120,000 as salary at the end of the month.
He condemned a situation where a poor civil servant on minimum wage of N30,000 per month sells his vote for only N500 to the man that will go and waste our resources for another 4 years.
Adu cited a situation “where 2 years after leaving office, most Senators would start selling off the acquired properties cheaply, wondering what would have been the gain.
In his words, “It is high time we sat down and cancel state of origin and the toga north or south, adding that being a Yoruba, Hausa, or Ibo, has not changed anything in Nigerians lifestyle.
Adu praised the effort of the Publisher of Ebony Herald International Magazine, Alhaji Lai Gidado for his new book, “The Dream Of Our Founding Fathers, recommending the piece for individuals, corporate organizations, government institutions as well as academic environments.
In his contribution, Dr. Atabo while dedicating the award to the memory of his late mother who exited the world on August 11, 2011 further stressed that the award would propel him to do more for the society and humanity in general.
He applauded the Ebony Herald International Magazine and publisher, for a well organized ceremony, and also praised them for identifying hard-working Nigerians who have impacted positively in humanity.
It was gathered that the next phase is preparation for next year’s event as one of the Editorial Board members, Alhaji Ayinde Soaga confirmed that the event would hold in the city of Kaduna.
