The Ondo State Deputy Governor and the Acting Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has again emphasized that the Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu administration will continue to prioritize education sector as the government has invested heavily in the sector in the last five years.
The Acting Governor who was delivering a goodwill message as Special Guest of Honour on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Independence Grammar School, Ondo stressed that both infrastructural and human capacity development have been given attention by the administration.
Aiyedatiwa said, “the present government has invested heavily on education through recruitment of teachers, payment of WAEC fees, upgrading of School infrastructure and a lot of other interventions”.
“I must assure you that Mr Governor’s vision for educational development is unrivalled in the history of Ondo State, and we assure you all that, no stone will be left unturned to ensure the best for our children’s education” .
Lauding the college for churning out outstanding products, Aiyedatiwa said “we are proud of the many products of this college, including the incumbent Chief Justice, Hon Williams Akinrotoye, who is a man of integrity and high repute and doing great on the bench.
According to a statement signed by the Press Secretary to Deputy Governor, Kenneth Odusola-Stevenson, He stressed that “the Chief Justice exemplifies the qualities that can be found in the products of the institution across the globe” .
“One can therefore imagine the enormous contributions to nation building by the numerous Engineers, Medical Doctors, Teachers, Lawyers, Clergymen, Bankers, Financial Experts, Administrators, Industrialists and a host of other professionals who have passed through this college in the last Sixty years” , he added.
Independence Grammar School, Ondo is the sixth of old generation schools in Ondo Kingdom.
Earlier, the Principal of the School, Elder A.A Omoniyi appealed for government assistance in retrieving the landed property of the school that has been encroached by some land grabbers.
President of the School’s old Boys Association, Barrister Bamidele Omoniyi Edokoayi called on the school products to join hands in developing and transforming their alma mater.
“Let’s contribute to the prosperity and strength of our school, and let us work together to create a better tomorrow for our alma mater” , he appealed.
