There’s palpable tension in the Agbeja community in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State as there was an alleged plot to install a parallel traditional ruler in the community.
Ten years ago, the Deji and Paramount ruler of Akure Kingdom had installed Sunday Ijalana as the traditional head of the Agbeja community(Olu of Agbeja).
His installation was also consented to by the Oloba of Oba-Ile, Oba Joseph Agunbiade.
But the residents of the community have been thrown into serious panics as there was an alleged plot to install one Sunday Fayehun as a parallel traditional ruler in the community 10 years after Ijalana had been installed.
Consequently, the Agbeja community and neighbouring villages are currently living in fear as sources revealed that the planned installation would hold tomorrow.
In a petition written on behalf of Olu of Agbeja, Chief Sunday Ijalana, by his attorney, Alomore Richard & Co, and addressed to the Divisional Police Officer(DPO), Osi, Akure, the petitioner alleged that one Mr. Sunday Fayeun, Aina Kikiowo, Saka Oluwayemi, Olamide Omole(Osuloye) and their thugs were at the verge if causing a bloodbath in the community as a result illegally selling of lands with forged receipt of Arowa family.
Chief Ijalana alleged that Sunday Fayeun and others falsely claimed to be head of Arowa family and unlawfully evicted lawful occupants from their land with the assistance of hired thugs in Agbeja community.
He said Sunday Fayeun was said to have been adjudged in Suit No: AK/150/2013 as a nonmember of Arowa family.
The petition revealed that the community is currently bereft of peace, law, and order as Fayeun employed machinery of thugs to evict lawful occupants from their lands.
According to the petition, “Sunday Fayeun and coconspirators were falsely disseminating and publicizing information that he had been removed by Oba J.O. Agunbiade, the Oloba of Oba-Ile and that he has been appointed by Oloba of Oba-Ile as the new Olu of Agbeja community.”
The petitioner, therefore, called on the police authorities to urgently intervene in the matter by arresting Mr. Sunday Fayeun and his accomplices in other to forestall any further act capable of disrupting the peace in the community.
Ijalana urged the police to conduct a discreet investigation into the allegations and prosecute the culprits.
