The UNIMEDTeaching Hospital Ondo State has been offered one hundred medical dialysis services at no cost for patients with kidney aliments at the Medical village in Ondo city and Akure complex of the Teaching Hospital.
The donation was made by Dr. Tola Awosika the Founder of Tola Awosika Foundation.
He described the gesture as a reflief package for kidney patients across Ondo kindgom and Akure, saying it is a token of his contribution to the good people of Ondo State.
He explained that his decision was propelled by his desire to support UNIMED Teaching Hospital Ondo State to attain greater heights in effective healthcare service delivery to the good people of the state.
He said government alone can not do it but with collaboration with private individuals and corporate bodies towards achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
Tola Awosika Foundation (TLA) handed over Revaclear dialyzer and high flux dialyzers that act as the filter removing the impurities in the blood blood tubing where the blood flows between the machine and the patient.

The CMD Dr. Oluwole Ige appreciated the donor for the huge assistance he would be rendering for kidney patients and relatives of the patients and the Teaching Hospital as a whole.
The CMD added that, one hundred medical dialysis service sessions would be equally distributed between Ondo and Akure complex of the Teaching Hospital irrespective of religion or tribes.
He applauded Tola Awosika Foundation (TLA) for the kind gestures and also pleaded with others NGOs and corporate organizations to emulate Dr.Tola Awosika’s humanitarian supports for patients and the hospital.
He lamented that “90% of our kidney patients can not afford to pay for the cost of dialysis services in the hospital and as a result the aliments kill them when the kidney fails”.
Ige said it costs about iN30,000 to N50,000 for drugs and laboratory tests to the dialysis.
