An early morning ‘strange’ fire has razed the Kogi State House of Assembly complex, destroying properties worth millions of naira.
Kogi State under Yahaya Bello as Governor which has been battling tragedy caused by flooding was plunged into further disaster management by the fire on Monday that destroyed the roof of the Chamber, causing extensive damage to the floor of the house located at Crusher Area in Lokoja.
The Speaker of the House, Mathew Kolawole, and the state security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, were among the early callers at the assembly complex.
The cause of the fire, described as strange by an eyewitness, is yet to be determined .
The Speaker of the Assembly said that he suspects sabotage but fell short of where the suspected sabotage might be from.
“We should leave security people to do their work and give us a report going forward,” the speaker said.
