The wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji has donated cash and distributed food items to 160 women across 16 local Governments of Ekiti State.
According to a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the First Lady on Media, Raheem Akingbolu, 10 widows were randomly selected from each of the 16 statutory Local Governments of the state.
Carrying out the donations in Ado Ekiti, Dr. Oyebanji said the gesture was out of love and feelings for the less privileged, in order to put smiles on their faces.
According to Dr Oyebanji, many of the widows are not opportune to eat three meals per day which accounted for malnutrition, hence, the need to render assistance to them.
She therefore appealed to them to ensure proper upbringing of their children so that their labour in life will not be futile.
The Governor’s wife also promised to reach out to other groups of widows subsequently, particularly those that were not captured in this exercise.
“It is our mandate to assist the less priviledged, they are part of the society, they need our care, they need our support” she added…
Mrs Eunice Olufunke on behalf of the group appreciated the First Lady and assured of the group’s support for the present administration. Praying fervently that she succeeds in all her endeavours.
