…as the infectious gospel of ‘awalokan’ spreads like wildfire.
As Nigerians go to polls in less than two weeks to elect leaders that will pilot the affairs of the country for another four years, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, Hon Biodun Omoleye has intensified his campaign with the visit to Ipole-Iloro, Ikogosi and Erijiyan Ekiti in Ekameta LCDA, and Aramoko and Erio Ekiti in Ekiti West LGA, to solicit the support of the people.
The former Chief of Staff, who was accompanied by his wife, Olusola, party leaders across the LCDAs and LGAs in Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II and a horde of supporters, visited the palaces of the traditional rulers of all the five communities, to receive royal blessings, before meeting party faithful and critical stakeholders of each of the communities.
Omoleye thanked the Monarchs and the people for their overwhelming support for the continuity of good governance which resulted in the victory of Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) at the poll. He also praised the Monarchs for maintaining peace and unity in their domains.
In his reponse, the Olupole of Ipole-Iloro Ekiti, Oba Ezekiel Babatola, whose palace was the first point of call, expressed confidence in the ability of Omoleye to be a good Representative and described the former Chief of Staff as a “man of his words”. Olupole declared his total support for Omoleye and charged his subjects to troop out enmass to cast their votes for him on the election day.
The Monarch equally called on Yoruba sons and daughters, irrespective of political inclinations to support the presidential candidate of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Oba Babatola called on the political class to respect the unwritten agreement of power rotation between the North and the South.
“Omoleye doesn’t even need to come here to campaign because he helped my town greatly when he was the Chief of Staff and this is a time to compensate him. Besides this, the forthcoming elections isn’t just about the APC, Tinubu, MOB and Omoleye. It is more about ‘us’ the Yoruba race in the best interest of the unwritten rotational agreement. Therefore, in the real sense of it ‘awalokan’ (it’s our turn) and we must all embrace this”, Olupole declared.
Other highly reverred traditional rulers including the Alara of Aramoko-Ekiti, Oba Adegoke Olu Adeyemi, Olohan of Erijiyan-Ekiti, Oba Omosebi Adegoroye and Elerio of Erio-Ekiti, Oba Johnson Ademola Bamigbade, spoke in unison and declared their unwavering support for Omoleye and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Monarchs expressed satisfaction with the antecedents of Omoleye and urged him not to renege on his promises to the people. They prayed God to give him total victory in the forthcoming election.
Omoleye, who was welcomed with songs and dance by teeming party members at each location, said he would improve the living conditions of the people, ensure more robust and effective representation by bringing dividends of democracy to his people. The former University Administrator expressed gratitude for the show of love and support for his ambition, and assured the people of their safety during the polls.
On the entourage of Omoleye were the former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Wale Fapohunda (SAN), lawmaker representing Ijero constituency, Hon. Ademola Ojo, Executive Chairman, Ijero local government, Hon Adeola Adeyemo, Executive Chairperson, Irewolede LCDA, Hon (Mrs) Dupe Bakare, the three Deputy Director-Generals of Omoleye Campaign Organization, Efon LGA, Hon Gabriel Ogundele, Ijero LGA, Hon Ropo Ige and Ekiti West LGA, Hon Gbenga Odebunmi who was the chief host.
Also in the entourage were Mrs Oluremi Balogun, Ijero local government APC Chairman, Pa James Awe, Barr. Dele Oloje, Director of Media and Communication for Omoleye Campaign Organization Hon Gboyega Ajayi among others.
The ‘awalokan mantra’ took centre stage all through the palaces and places visited in both the Ekameta LCDA and Ekiti West LGA, as more people continued to catch the infectious bug of the unwritten rotational agreement.
