
ONDO, FEDERAL GOVERNMENT COLLABORATE TOWARDS IMPLEMENTATION OF SGDs, 2030 AGENDA
The office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals and the Ondo State government are collaborating on the strategic approaches towards achieving the 2030 agenda.
This was as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Princess Adejoke Oorelope -Adefulire and his team were in the state on advocacy and sensitisation visit to accelerate the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in the state.
Addressing the gathering, the Senior Special Assistant to the President, Princess Oorelope -Adefulire emphasized that the visit is part of the strategies to ensure that all critical stakeholders are part of the process of achieving the 2030 Agenda.
This she said are geared towards creating the required platforms that would guarantee interventions in the area of
Social, economic, climate change and other challenges with a view to reducing poverty, promoting prosperity and tackling environmental challenges.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President said involvement of Civil Society Groups, Women and Youth Organisations as well as the private sectors would also be required in the task aimed at ensuring that the vulnerable and the weak are cared for.
While noting that the academia would not be left behind left behind, Princess Oorelope -Adefulire said the development is in line with the Renewed hope agenda of the President Bola Tinubu.
She charged Ondo State to develop it’s roadmap and make it interactive.
While also making case for the need to reduce the number of our;of-school children, the Senior Special Assistant commented the Amotekun Corps for being exceptional in the south west and called for provision of more equipment.
In his response, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa acknowledged the importance of the visit to the state and assured that structures are already being put in place to achieve a robust output.
The occasion was an opportunity to reel out the various impacts of the sustainable development goals in the state said the projects have imparted positively on the lives of the people.
The governor said the 100- bed hospital in Ifon and the Skill Acquisition Center, Ile-Oluji
as well as installation of 2000 solar lights across the state have justified the impact of the interventions.
The governor reiterated that the the state govt is prepared to play its part in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in line with the 2030 Agenda.
Aiyedatiwa assured that the state government would continue to incorporate the components of the goals into the policies of his administration while all the required support would be provided.
Earlier, the Head of Service, Mr. Bayo Philip said the approach is required for the “robust involvement of our dear state in the implementation of the SDGs aimed at alleviating the challenges being faced by our people.”
He assured that civil servants are prepared to be part of the process to play their part as the engine room of implementation of govt projects.
