…Governor Aiyedatiwa to empower 1000 women to mark event
The Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye has charged staff of the ministry of women affairs to be dedicated, committed and diligent in the discharge of their duties.
Dr. Osamaye also urged them to be passionate towards the various programmes and policies of the present administration aimed at making lives better for women and various segments of the society.
The Special Adviser was addressing the staff at the Babafunke Ajasin Auditorium shortly after her swearing-in.
While charging them to be impactful and determined to work, Osamaye emphasized that they should focus and align with the “Our Ease” mantra of the Aiyedatiwa administration, stressing that various programmes are being fashioned out to make women self-reliant.
While assuring that the ministry would serve as a bridge between the government and the people, the Special Adviser said government would ensure that women have easy access to economic and financial support to boost their businesses.
She charges the staff to prepare for the 2025 International Women’s Day which she assured would be a more colourful event.
Osamaye noted that the Governor is already aware of the situation in the ministry and assured that the structures would be given facelift to enable them work in a conducive environment.
Speaking on behalf of the staff, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. T. Lebile expressed gratitude to the Special Adviser for her words of encouragement.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser has played host to members of the National Council for Women Societies(NCWS) with a view to involving them in the plans ahead for women across the state.
Dr. Osamaye said the aim of the empowerment programme for the 1000 women is to boost their businesses.
In her words, “tell our women that it is the period of ease in Ondo State. The era of lobbying to benefit from government programmes is over”.
“We shall reach out women irrespective of their location. It is our responsibility and I want to say again that your coming at this time shows how strategic and relevant you are”.
The Special Adviser said as a member of the National Council for Women Societies, she is aware of the links and the contacts of the group with women groups and assured that government is prepared to partner the council to empower women in the 18 local government areas of the state.
Earlier in her speech, the President of National Council for Women Societies, Bishop(Mrs) Oluseyi Odusola expressed happiness that women are being given recognition by the Aiyedatiwa’s administration.
She commended the Governor for appointing Dr. Osamaye and the Finance Commissioner into the new cabinet, expressing the hope that they would justify the confidence reposed in them.
The president commented Dr. Osamaye for hitting the ground running by embarking on various processes of making the ministry of women affairs more relevant in the “Our Ease” approach of the present administration.
