
ONDO, SAVE THE CHILDREN INT’L ORGANISE WORKSHOP FOR CHILDREN PARLIAMENT

Ondo state government in collaboration with Save the Children International has organised a two-day workshop for Children Parliament members in Akure the state capital.
The two-day workshop involved children from the disability community to foster inclusive participation.
Addressing the participants, Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs, Dr Seun Osamaye who highlighted the role of the ministry in promoting child participation in the state affairs noted that government was intentional in building young generation of leaders in governance.
Dr Osamaye noted that the workshop would enlighten the children on their roles as parliamentarians and the leadership skills they needed to inculcate.
She appreciated Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the support given to children in the state and Save the Children International at protecting children in cocoa producing communities of Ondo state, hence the efforts of government to implement the child protection policy.
Earlier, The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Bishop(Mrs) Seyi Odusola had welcomed the children to the Workshop.
The Communication Officer of Save the Children, Ehinmofe Samuel highlighted the security and safeguarding efforts of the International organization at protecting children in Ondo and Rivers States.
He appreciated the Ministry for the collaboration and invaluable contributions to partnering on child initiatives that promotes the rights and well being of children across the state
The Lead speaker at the workshop, Emmanuel Adaramola highlighted leadership and advocacy skills for parliamentarians, noting that Ondo state children are lucky to have the Children Parliament revived, charging the young parliamentarians to make judicious use of opportunity.
The workshop had in attendance children and young people from secondary schools ,leaders of religious organizations ,and stakeholders in the education sector.
