ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT TAKES NFWP-SU SENSITISATION TO THREE NEWLY INCLUDED LGAs
The Ondo State Government, through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has commenced advocacy and pre-sensitisation activities in three newly included Local Government Areas under the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU).
According to the State Project Coordinator, Dr. Jumoke Bakare, while the Governor previously onboarded Ilaje, Akure North, and Akoko North West at the start of the programme, Ifedore, Owo, and Ile-Oluji have now been approved for inclusion.
She stated that the advocacy visits will be led by the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, with the aim of engaging the leadership of the three Local Government Areas and soliciting their support and cooperation for the successful implementation of the project.
The team will begin the sensitisation in Ifedore LGA on Monday, 17th August 2026, followed by Owo LGA on Tuesday, 18th August, and Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo LGA on 19th August 2026.
According to her, the Nigeria for Women Project Scale-Up (NFWP-SU) is a Federal Government initiative supported by the World Bank, designed to enhance the livelihoods and economic opportunities of poor and vulnerable women across participating states.
In her words, “The project will strengthen women’s access to skills, finance, productive assets, markets, and social support through structured women’s groups.”
Dr. Bakare noted that the inclusion of the three additional Local Government Areas is a significant step toward expanding the reach and impact of the project in Ondo State, particularly among women who require economic opportunities and support to improve their livelihoods and the welfare of their families.
She urged women in the newly included Local Government Areas to take full advantage of the opportunities provided by the project, participate actively in the sensitisation exercises, and embrace the principles of savings, entrepreneurship, skills development, and collective economic advancement.
