HOW FAMILY, FRIENDS CELEBRATED REVD AJIBOLA FAGBOYEGUN AT 70 IN AKURE

The venue was Ruby’s Court in Akure the Ondo State capital where family, friends, traditional and community leaders as well as members of his church, The Light in the Darkness Ministry had gathered to honour the celebrant.
Even though he was not in the know of the plans of his immediate family led by the wife, Revd Adeola Fagboyegun, ‘Daddy Shepherd’ was surprised to see a large gathering of well-wishers from far and near especially his country home, Uso in Owo local government area of the state.
The Oloba-in-Council was led by Oba(Dr) Ademola Oyinbade while presence of clergymen from various religious organisations was visibly noticed.
Revd Ajibola Fagboyegun and his family danced into the well decorated hall with the admiration of the guests.
The wife, Revd Adeola Fagboyegun described the celebrant as a kind-hearted husband and good father to his children.
She reflected on his impact on both the immediate and extended family as well as members of his church and his kinsmen.
Revd(Mrs) Fagboyegun prayed for more celebrations in good health and peace of mind.
In his remarks, the Oloba of Uso, Oba(Dr) Ademola Oyinbade acknowledged the roles of the celebrant in the growth and development of his town and the individuals in particular.
The traditional ruler urged Revd Fagboyegun to continue to play his part as a lover of his community and the people in general.
Similarly, Revd J. Anjorin of the Living Stone Church of the Lord, noted how his life and many others had been and still being touched by the man who he described as a pride of Christianity.
Speaking on behalf of the family of the wife, Mrs Moyo Sowemimo said the celebrant is not only an in-law but a father.
She therefore prayed God for a long life as the Man of God continues to forge ahead as an entrepreneur, community leader and clergyman.
Speaking with newsmen, the celebrant expressed happiness that his little contributions to the lives of individuals and growth of his community was acknowledged.
He said the honour done him on his birthday is a challenge for him to keep playing his part in humanitarian services.
Revd Ajibola Fagboyegun’s story began in Owo, Ondo State, where he was born at St. Louis Hospital to Ekun Florence Fagboyegun on August 24, 1956.
He attended primary school in his native town, where he passed his Primary School Leaving Certificate with excellence from Uso in 1967.
He later attended Imade College, Owo where he was a schoolmate of the current Deputy Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olayide Owolabi Adelami and passed out in 1973.
He subsequently travelled to the United States of America, where he studied in Mass Communication.
His training and experience have given him a strong footing in the profession.
If you ever find him correcting you about anything media-related, just know that he had quality training outside Nigeria.
Beyond his ministry, Revd Ajibola has had a distinguished career in public service.
He served as a Federal Commissioner at the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission from 2007 to 2017, where he held several leadership positions and contributed to efforts around revenue accountability, recovery and the strengthening of government revenue systems.
Earlier in his career, he served as Chairman of the Ondo State Board of Task Force on Revenue Generation, alongside other roles in business, media and education.
But for all the positions he has held and the work he has done, perhaps his greatest joy remains his family.
For 43 years, he has been married to his beloved wife, Reverend Mrs. Adeola Aderonke Fagboyegun(nee Adetola), who he fondly calls “My Dove”.
Together, they have raised many children and are grandparents to beautiful grandchildren.
He has also fathered many beyond his biological family and is blessed with a wonderful son-in-law.
As a husband and father, he is loving, deeply family-oriented and passionate about peace.
He does not enjoy conflict and is often the first to step in when people he loves are at odds.
He believes strongly that family should be a place of love, unity and cordiality and he will do whatever he can to restore peace when that is threatened.
He is disciplined, hardworking and outspoken, but those who know him well also know his softer side. Outside ministry and work, he enjoys table tennis, lawn tennis and watching documentaries.
