ONDO PARTNERS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO TACKLE OFFENSIVE ODOUR
During the week, I held high-level engagements with key officials of the Federal Ministry of Environment, including the Director of Pollution Control, Mrs. Adeola Omotunde, and her team of experts, as well as the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Environment, to strengthen collaboration and secure additional technical support in addressing the offensive odour reported in some parts of Ondo State.
As a follow-up to these engagements, the Federal Ministry’s representatives held a virtual meeting with the Ondo State Technical Team to share expertise, scientific approaches and strategies for addressing the situation.
The Federal experts provided guidance on proven scientific methodologies for environmental monitoring, pollutant identification and source apportionment, with the objective of producing reliable, verifiable and scientifically defensible results.
The Federal Ministry commended His Excellency, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for the proactive efforts the State Government has made so far.
On the whole, I sincerely appreciate the Federal Ministry of Environment for its support and collaboration. With the advanced technologies, scientific methodologies and expert knowledge being deployed, we are confident that these efforts will lead to the identification of the source of the odour with precision and enable us to bring the entire gamut of this unfortunate incident under control.
I am also profoundly grateful to the people of Ondo State for their patience, cooperation and understanding at this crucial time.
Signed:
Hon. Tob Loko, Ph.D.
Commissioner for Environment
Ondo State
