Adekanmbi Calls for Calm, Urges Aiyedatiwa to Unify Ondo APC
The Managing Director of the Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Olufemi Adekanmbi, PhD has appealed for calm among members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, warning that internal wrangling could derail the party’s prospects in future elections.
In a terse statement on Tuesday, Adekanmbi urged the governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa to immediately convene a broad stakeholders’ meeting involving party elders, leaders, and critical stakeholders to address the growing tension and chart a common path forward.
He described the current situation as a political quagmire, and one that requires urgent and collective intervention to prevent further division within the ruling party.
The APC chieftain cautioned aspirants against heating up the polity, reminding them that only one candidate would eventually emerge as the party’s flag bearer at the appropriate time.
“We must close ranks and unify as a party to record a resounding victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027″
“When the state is divided along vested interests, it will weaken our collective strength and make victory difficult,” Adekanmbi said.
He added that the state must not be turned into a battlefield.
The agency boss stressed that personal ambitions should be subordinated to the overall interest of the party.
He noted that the APC remains the dominant political force in Ondo State and must not allow internal crises to create unnecessary opportunities for the opposition.
The call comes amid reported scheming and rising tension within Ondo APC as political activities begin to pick up ahead of future polls.
Dr. Adekanmbi emphasised that unity remains the strongest weapon for the APC, urging all members irrespective of their leaning to embrace dialogue, accommodation, and a shared vision for the development of Ondo State.
He expressed confidence that Governor Aiyedatiwa, as the leader of the party in the state, should rise to the occasion and provide the needed leadership to foster genuine reconciliation and cohesion.
