ONDO HOS SEGUN ODUSANYA PARTNERS CIPM ON HUMAN CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT
The Ondo State Head of Service, Chief Segun Odusanya, has emphasized the importance of training and retraining of the workforce in achieving the present administration’s developmental agenda tagged ‘OUR EASE’.
Odusanya made the position known while addressing members of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, CIPM, who paid him a visit in his office in Akure, the state capital.
He reiterated the resolve of the state government to equip the workforce with wherewithal to meet up with present day challenges in the discharge of their duties in line global standard.
The HOS therefore assured them of the readiness of the state government to partner the CIPM in its quest to achieve a globally competitive and professional public service in Ondo State.
“We are in an era that so many things are evolving and if you don’t move with that tide, you will be swept away. We are not at our best now. So we want to see how we can improve.” Odusanya stated.
“I want to pledge our support for this body. Please let’s work together to get more of our officers trained in relevant areas.” He added.
Speaking earlier at the occasion, the state chairman of the institute, Pamela Elekwachi, had lauded the state government for consistently sponsoring members in its employment to CIPM organised training and conferences, describing it one of the best across the country.
While recalling a recent circular from the federal civil service making the CIPM as the approved institute that can certify Human Resource practice in the country, Elekwachi, expressed the readiness of CIPM to collaborate with the state on the training of its workforce.
“Since 2019 and for seven consecutive years, Ondo State has been
consistently sponsored CIPM members attending conferences and anyone that attended had been able to come back to add value to their organisations.” Elekwachi ascertained.
“CIPM is the statutory body for human resource practice and excellence in Nigeria and more recently, with the circular that has been released by the federal civil service that is the recognised body that can certify Human Resource practice in Nigeria, it has become very imperative thet, promoting excellence, members who work with the state should stand up for such certification.” she concluded.
She therefore called for the timely domestication of the federal circular in the state to further consolidate the efforts of government towards repositioning the service for optimal productivity and excellence.
