A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State, Chief Abayomi Akogun has charged the people of the state to be expectant of outstanding performance as the Governor-elect, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji is billed for swearing-in on Sunday.
Akogun who was speaking with newsmen in Ado-Ekiti stated that the in-coming Governor has been part of governance in the state at various intervals, assuring that he would hit the ground running on the first day of assuming office.
The grassroots mobiliser popularly known as ‘Lustay’ said the confidence the people have in him led to the overwhelming victory recorded by the APC in the June 18 governoship election which he said has become a reference point in the democratic history of the country.
Chief Akogun emphasised that steps taken by Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji immediately after he was announced the winner are enough pointers that the electorate got it right in the overall interest of the people of the state.
In his words, “you would realise that immediately after the elections, he visited leaders of the state, including those in the opposition parties as well as major stakeholders in Ekiti State project within and outside the state to ensure that they are carried along in the governance of the state”.
According to Akogun, it is clear that having been a thorough-bred Ekiti home-based politician, there is hope that even distribution of resources would be achieved across your the length and breadth of the state”.
The APC leader who congratulated the in-coming Governor on the level of support he has been receiving before, during and after the elections called on traditional authorities, political leaders, youth associations, opinion moulders as well as public servants to cooperate with the new administration by ensuring that the relative peace being enjoyed in the state is sustained.
He also congratulated the outgoing Governor, Kayode Fayemi on a successful tenure which he said was climaxed with a landmark achievement of the Ekiti State International Cargo Airport which the party leader described as “another sign of finishing well”.
