The Governor of Ondo State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa has emphasized the place of unity and collaboration in ensuring delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.
The Governor spoke through the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti at a one-day worksop for female appointees and elected officials organised by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development held in Akure the state capital.
The Worksop is part of the efforts to ensure that women in the state, irrespective of location access the various components of the “Our Ease” agenda of the present administration.
The event had in attendance female appointees, elected officials as well as past and top government functionaries.
The theme, Unity of Purpose: The Pathway to accessing “Our Ease” agenda was the focus as the Governor’s message encouraged women to collaborate and unite with a view to benefiting from the various policies aimed at making life more meaningful for them.
In his words, “you will agree with me that our administration is also giving women due consideration in this administration, while plans are underway to unveil various strategic plans towards women empowerment and development in Ondo State”.
“As women, you have a unique opportunity to bring your perspectives, skills, and experiences to the table, ensuring that our policies and programmes are inclusive, equitable, and effective. Hence, our Governor’s “Our Ease” agenda is designed to drive meaningful change and improvement in the lives of our citizens, and we must work together to achieve this vision”.
“It is necessary to remind you of the unrestrained commitment of this administration to giving Ondo State women access to economic empowerment, human capital development, social welfare, equal opportunities and rights”.
“As we embark on this journey together, I want to emphasize the importance of unity and collective purpose, as captured in the theme of this workshop”.
“We must recognize that our individual strengths and weaknesses are intertwined, and that our successes and failures are shared”.
“By working together and supporting one another, we can achieve greatness. It is necessary we collectively work to rejuvenate the dignity and hope of the Sunshine State”.
“The theme of this event is therefore a clarion call on us to be awake and make meaningful impact in the society”.
In her remarks, the Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Women Affairs, Dr. Seun Osamaye said the people of the state are lucky that they have a leader who is not paying lip service to his plans to deliver on his promises but committed to making a difference.
Osamaye urged the participants to pursue collective responsibility in unity and accord.
The Special Adviser assured that women can now benefit from government programmes without lobbying as all is set to ensure easy access to grants and loans.
She said activation of Skill Up a Woman Initiative would train women free of charge while they will have the opportunity to access grants and loans.
She explained that secondary school students are to be inducted into the agricultural programme of the Renewed Hope Initiative being championed by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.
She also added that the forthcoming International Women’s Day would witness empowerment of over 1,000 women.
The event featured lectures by Professor Bridget Awosika and former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele who called on the women to spread the message of unity of purpose and the need for collaboration for them to be part of the “Our Ease” agenda.
The event also witnessed the activation of the Skill Acquisition Programme by the Governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti.
The women are to be engaged in Food Production, Textile Design and Decoration, Production of local beverages as well as production of cleaning items
