
ONDO STATE GOVERNMENT REITERATES COMMITMENT TO ACCESSIBLE HEALTHCARE DELIVERY

Ondo State Government has reemphasized its commitment to provision of affordable care for the citizenry.
The Special Adviser to Governor Aiyedatiwa on Health, Prof Simi Odimayo was addressing newsmen shortly after the unveiling of the Non State Actors of the IMPACT malaria project in Akure the state capital.
Prof Odimayo who stressed the determination of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to justify the confidence reposed in him in the health sector reflected on the various interventions being carried out to ensure effective delivery.
The Special Adviser stated that health facilities in the 203 wards are being upgraded with provision of all relevant facilities including accommodation for health workers.
Odimayo said the administration of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has not only employed more doctors and nurses but has also enhanced the stability of the sector by ensuring that salaries of health workers are at par with that of the federal government.
“The Governor is actually not resting on his oars as recruitment of more health workers is in progress just as training and re-training is also made a priority”.
The Special Adviser said the restructuring of the health sector has continued to yield positive results, noting that more facilities are being delivered in line with the “Our Agenda of the administration.
“The 250-bedded hospital in Akure has been completed while that of Ondo is being worked upon, assuring that the CT Scan at Laje in Ondo would be ready for use before the end of May this year.
Prof. Odimayo who commended the initiative of Governor Aiyedatiwa to inaugurate the informal sector of the Health Insurance Scheme said over 250,000 citizen of the state are benefitting from the scheme.
The Special Adviser charged the Non State Actors of the IMPACT Malaria Project to live up to expectations of both government and the people, stressing that the Governor is highly committed to changing the narratives as the disease is rampant in Nigeria.
Earlier, the Project Coordinator of IMPACT Malaria Project, Dr. Waheed Afolayan had analysed the various efforts put in place to arrive at the Non State Actors as he assured that they are not only capable but also committed.
The team comprising officials of both state and federal government as well as members of the Pen Profession led by the Special Adviser later visited the Central Medical Stores on Ondo road axis of the state capital for inspection of the drugs already provided for the consumption of the citizenry as well as the facilities on ground.
