MEEM CONDEMNS WAEC ENGLISH LANGUAGE EXAM LEAKAGE, CALLS FOR ACCOUNTABILITY
The Mission for the Eradication of Examination Malpractices (MEEM) expresses disappointment over the recent unfortunate incident involving the leak of the English Language examination paper during the ongoing West African Examinations Council (WAEC) exams.
The development forced WAEC to print and distribute a new set of questions same day, resulting in candidates beginning to write the paper as late as 10.00 pm and completing them well into the early hours of the following day.
“MEEM strongly condemns this fire-brigade response, which not only undermines the integrity of the examination process but also exposes candidates to undue physical danger and psychological stress”.
“It is deeply troubling that innocent candidates, many of whom prepared diligently, had their welfare compromised due to no fault of theirs”.
“MEEM questions why the students should bear the consequences of actions orchestrated by elements within the radar of the examination body”.
“The leak could not have occurred without the involvement and complicity of individuals within the examination body itself. MEEM calls on WAEC and relevant authorities to urgently investigate and hold accountable all those responsible for this serious breach of trust and security”.
“Our mission remains unwavering in advocating transparent, fair, and secure examination processes across Nigeria and the West African sub-region in the best interest of our future leaders We urge all stakeholders—examination bodies, government agencies, educators, parents, and students to collaborate in safeguarding the credibility of our educational system”.
“MEEM remains poised to support initiatives that reinforce examination integrity, strengthen public credibility and promote the physical as well as mental well-being of students”.
