70TH BIRTHDAY: AIYEDATIWA FELICITATES AMODENI ON 70TH BIRTHDAY
…As Governor Inaugurates Golden Garden Events Center And Vaults In Akure
Ondo State Governor, Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, on Friday, commended a former Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Prince Solagbade Amodeni, for his courage, integrity and entrepreneurial drive, describing him as a principled man whose contributions to governance and private enterprise have positively impacted the State.
The Governor gave the commendation during the commissioning of the Golden Garden Event Centre and Vaults in Akure, where he also congratulated him on his 70th birthday, saying his life has been a testimony of resilience and purpose.
Governor Aiyedatiwa, who attended the ceremony alongside dignitaries including former Governor Olusegun Mimiko and former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Lasisi Oluboyo, described Amodeni as a selfless leader who had demonstrated excellence in both governance and business.
“So much has been said about who you are, what you stand for, and the exploits you’ve made politically and entrepreneurially, even at 70. I want to commend your efforts. I may not have known you for long, but your character and political sagacity are worthy of emulation”, the Governor said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa recalled his first encounter with Amodeni during the late Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s campaign, describing the former Chairman of Akoko South-East Local Government as a man of conviction.
“We met during the Akeredolu struggle and worked together as part of a small team. He is a very principled person who goes all out to pursue what he believes in with courage and commitment,” he said.
The Governor further revealed that Amodeni stood firmly by him during his political ordeal when an attempt was made to impeach him as deputy governor. “I didn’t invite him or ask for his support, but he took it upon himself to rally people and issue press statements to defend the truth. That helped to change public perception of what really happened,” he stated.
Governor Aiyedatiwa described the newly commissioned facility as a significant addition to Akure’s infrastructural landscape, combining an event centre with a private cemetery.
“This is a beautiful edifice that can be compared to similar facilities in Lagos. What you have done here has added colour, beauty and value to Ondo State,” he said. “The cemetery and event centre will serve as befitting venues for people to celebrate milestones and honour their departed loved ones.”
The Governor prayed for continued grace and strength for Amodeni, saying, “At 70, you are still standing strong and active. May the Lord continue to keep you.”
Also speaking, former Governor Olusegun Mimiko said Chief Amodeni has always justified the confidence reposed in him and urged him to keep playing his part in the development of his people and the state in general.
Mimiko described Chief Amodeni as a loyal politician and committed agent of societal development.
