Aiyedatiwa Presents Staff of Office to Oba Bankole Adeyefa as 25th Elemure of Emure-Ile
Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has presented the Instrument of Appointment and Staff of Office to Oba Bankole Adeyefa II as the 25th Elemure of Emure-Ile Kingdom in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
The presentation ceremony, which took place in Emure-Ile on Saturday, marked the formal recognition of Oba Adeyefa as the traditional ruler of the ancient town.
Governor Aiyedatiwa stated that the appointment followed due process, noting that the State Executive Council approved the selection of Prince Bankole Adeyefa on October 27, 2025, in strict compliance with the extant Chiefs’ Law of Ondo State.
Represented at the event by his deputy, Olayide Adelami, the governor commended the kingmakers, community leaders, and all stakeholders for conducting a seamless and rancour-free selection process.
“I wish to commend the efforts of the kingmakers for their sincere and invaluable roles in the emergence of the monarch. This clearly demonstrates their commitment to the peace, unity, and development of Emure-Ile Kingdom,” the governor said.
He charged the new Elemure to use his exalted position to unite his subjects and attract meaningful development to the community.
“As we rejoice with Kabiyesi, it is important to remind Your Royal Majesty of your new role as a father to all within your domain. You now belong to everyone, and your accession to the throne should be seen as a call to selfless service. The responsibility of leading Emure-Ile to greater social and economic advancement now rests squarely on your shoulders,” he added.
The governor congratulated Oba Adeyefa on his accession to the throne of his forebears and prayed that his reign would usher in enduring peace, accelerated growth, and sustainable development in Emure-Ile.
He also urged traditional rulers across the state to strengthen collaboration with security agencies in tackling banditry, kidnapping, and other forms of insecurity within their respective domains.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Amidu Takuro, lauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for keeping faith with his promise to ensure the timely installation of traditional rulers whenever stools become vacant in any part of the state.
Responding, the newly installed monarch expressed gratitude to the state government, the community, and all stakeholders for their support, while appealing for government intervention in critical infrastructure development.
Oba Adeyefa pledged his unwavering support for government programmes and assured of close collaboration with security agencies to rid the state of criminal activities.
The colourful ceremony was attended by the Commissioner for Finance, Mrs Omowunmi Isaac; Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands and Housing, Engr Abiola Olawoye; Member representing Owo Constituency I in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Ogunmlasuyi West; his Constituency II counterpart, Hon. Morenike Witherspoon; Royal fathers from across the state, including the Olowo of Owo, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Owo, Rt Rev Stephen Fagbemi; the Chief Imam of Owo, Sheikh Yunus Anola; among other dignitaries.
