MEMBER-ELECT, LONGE HAILS S’ COURT JUDGMENT ON OYEBANJI’S VICTORY
Member-elect representing Oye Constituency 1 in Ekiti State House of Assembly, Tope Longe, has hailed Supreme Court judgment affirming Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as the duly elected governor of Ekiti State.
In a statement in Oye-Ekiti, Longe said Oyebanji’s success at the Supreme Court is a victory for democracy and rule of law.
While urging aggrieved politicians in electoral contests to choose the path of the judiciary to seek redress in their objections he said this remained the only hope in obtaining justice in democratic societies.
He enjoined Ekiti people to remain steadfast in their support for the governor to enable him deliver the dividends of democracy for all, while also urging the opposition to sheathe their swords to enable Oyebanji concentrate of his duties and responsibilities to Ekiti people.
In his Easter message, Longe urged Nigerians to show love to one another as the main significance of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on the Holy Cross.
His words: “Jesus Christ surrendered his life and died on the cross to ensure salvation for mankind in an unusual act of sacrifice to save humanity. This message should not be lost on us. We must strive to make sacrifices to ensure happiness and survival of our fellow human beings in our little ways.”
He prayed for the nation for a smooth and peaceful transfer of power, and in particular for the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for protection and vision to lead Nigeria aright to enable Nigerians to witness prosperity.
While urging drivers to observe speed limits on the roads while transporting Easter holiday makers to their destinations, he urged the youth to avoid excessive alcohol during Easter celebrations.
